Ronald, it does sound like we're having similar problems. Hotmail has 
some shady filtering criteria, I'm not having any problems delivering to 
anywhere else. As you say, it seems like Hotmail is misinterpreting headers.

The server is a virtual machine at Slicehost, I've had it for about 18 
months. I can confirm it's not an open relay (obviously, I thought of 
that first). I've done the basics like setting up reverse DNS for the IP 
and SPF records for most of the domains used.

I'm going to look further into Hotmail being used as a mail client. I 
can't see any other way it would get hold of these suspicious emails.
