Re: Reply-to-All (was Re: [Fwd: RE: [edlug] Facebook group against Mandelson's Digital Economy Bill])

In the old days (before hosted email services) you could suggest people create a mail filter using procmail to strip out the Reply-to header if it contains the list. If you have an enlightened host that allows you to use Sieve or a smart enough MUA you can probably still do this.

Perhaps there's an opening for a mail gateway service that performs this operation?

I always hit "reply all" for lists however they're set up.

For what it's worth (probably less than 2 cents in any currency), this is a discussion list. Reply-to-list encourages discussion, whereas reply-to-sender by default (reply as opposed to reply-all) discourages it.

If this list was for selling things, then it would make more sense to
reply-to-sender, but in general the list is used for discussion.

Do we need to fork the list to satisfy everyone? It's not like it's huge
traffic ;)

Yes indeed but unfortunately this isn't a technical issue it's a
political issue.

We should have vote.

I vote to maintain things as they are.

I won't vote without seeing the manifesto :P

oops seemed to have sent that the the world and his dog, sorry ;-)

Might be because of the confusing reply-to header on this list ;)
