Well, I think I said it, in retrospect, for two reasons. I thought it would get it out to a larger
audience; I'm not unaware of the patent restrictions of mp3, the irony would be nice in a
warped way.
I was also saying it slightly tongue-in-cheek as a way to rile some people. I find some of
the atmosphere around Stallman, solicited or not, to be faintly disturbing. He has done a
lot but I really don't think he deserves a standing ovation (which some gave him at the talk).
Also, I'd much rather hear people describing what *they* believe in as opposed to practising
reasoning by indirection ie "Stallman wouldn't like it". I'm not making a personal jibe here, btw,
at least not intentionally.
