I was going to host ogg vorbis files from recording ulla did, she has said she wished to split it up, and particularly release the patents portion.

I can set up and host bittorrent trackers for such files and a permanent seed for them, on a good server I have access to.
Get in touch if you want to sort this out and getting file to me.

What is recorded direct as ogg vorbis or encoded from a lossless recording or another format?
What quality setting did you have on ogg encoding?
I think with voice stuff you can use very low settings with ogg vorbis.

I have been trying out ogg speex and will try to make available in this format as well as file size should be even better for quality. http://speex.org/
The audio editor Sweep ( http://sweep.sf.net ) can encode directly as Ogg Speex.

Given the possible slashdotting it might get, you may want to find a bittorrent method
of hosting it. Failing that, you could use FreeCache: http://www.archive.org/web/freecache.php
It would probably help if you could convert it to mp3 in addition to ogg-vorbis.

how would that 'help?

I don't think that would help with what I wish to see helped. The quality for a given file size of MP3 is lower than Ogg Vorbis.
MP3 is encumbered by patents, so is good to encourage people to switch to using ogg. And if users are going to download a 28MB file, they can download a player that plays Oggs, there are many both free and non-free.

One can add/edit info fields to ogg file in FooBar2000 ( http://www.foobar2000.org ) under MS Windows, like ID3 tags in MP3s. Foobar2000 does run under WINE but does anyone know a good native GNU/Linux program that can edit these ogg info fields?

When Stallman was asked in email before his visit about recording his talk he request that it should be released not only in a format that can be played on free software, but that it is unecumbered by patents, so if you respect Stallman enough to wish to promote what he says by making recording available, then please respect this request.

If the battery on camera had not died then I would have encoded video with VP3 and made availiable via http://v2v.cc ,
a video distribution site that uses P2P networks. VP3 can be converted latter to Ogg Theora with no loss. http://www.theora.org/
