RE: [edlug] Install Day?

Hello there,

Looks like there is need a venue, Is there anyone out there with a connection to a University , college or School with a room full of Electricity sockets and preferably internet access?.

Unfortunately EDLUG(Advocates) cannot help at this point. Mainly because it needs to work out it's constitution which will be start to evolve shortly but may take some time.

I am willing to volunteer some of my time and will look around for some venues. I would recommend waiting till after the next full release of Fedora. I hope to go up to Aberdeen to visit the install fest there,
it may be worth while doing this if you have not done and install fest before. If anyone has any suggestions for venues(with phone numbers) I would be willing to check it out

Cheers

Bob

I didn't attend the last install day and I haven't heard any talk about
another one in the near future. James (james@xxx.xxx.xxx) and I have
been discussing it, We would be interested in co-ordinating such an
event (with anyone else willing to help)

Between us we can provide....

	- Couple of desktops/laptops to demo our installs on
	- Couple of Monitors - so attendees only need bring their
	  Computers
	- Keyboards/Mice
	- A couple of Switches
	- A Pile of Cat5
	- Distro CD's + Blanks + burners
	- Wireless Access Point
	- Facilities to create posters/leaflets beforehand
	- 2 almost fully functional brains and experience with a pile of
	  distros

The release forms and things on the website could be reused too

What we would need....

	- A Venue - preferably with Internet access for googling funky
	  hardware problems
	- More volunteers and their hardware and CD's
	- People willing to publicize by sticking posters up in their
	  office/school/college

Anyone else up for install mayhem?
