Thanks very much to Dominic for bringing these along. 

I noticed a new version today to fix some SCSI problems in the 2.6 kernel. Sure enough when I actually tried to boot mine it segfaulted early on then hung.

Typing

linux26 noscsi [any other args ...]

at the boot prompt fixed it for me.
