RE: [edlug] The Grub ate my Boot

Sorry for not responding earlier - might have saved
you some grief. I think this will solve your problem.

boot Knoppix ( http://www.knoppix.net/ , tested
version 3.4)
mount your MDK partitions
copy grub files from /usr/lib/grub/ to
/mdk-mount/boot/grub/
edit /mdk-mount/boot/grub/grub.conf
launch "grub"
in the grub console, enter
"root (hdx,y)"
where x refers to the hard disk having the slackware
install, starting at 0 = /dev/hda, 1 = /dev/hdb etc.
y is the number of the partition containing /boot,
starting at 0 = /dev/hdx1, 1 = /dev/hdx2 etc.
setup (hdz)
where z is the drive or partition where you want the
boot loader, usually z = 0.

I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding grub.conf
samples on the web to help you!

Regards,

Samsara
