Re: [edlug] Edlug(social)(advocates)DSL-604+ Wireless router

This is great, it should be fun

I have also quickly thrown together a smoothwall PC for those interested. I will bring along the CD for those who would like to reinstall it which takes about 20mins.

I look forward to seeing Emergence, however my main aim for the evening will be a short 5min question and answer session at 9pm about Edlug(advocates) if it should exist at all. If it is accepted then I will take the discussion to the side for those willing to take it further.

cheers

Bob

I will bring along my laptop so people can have a look at my game - Emergence. It is a multiplayer game and was successfully tested on three player on Sunday afternoon. If anyone wants to join in, they can install it on their laptop - it hasn't been officially released yet. There are some requirements:

2.6 kernel
nptl glibc
xfree 4.3

If you haven't tried nptl, I highly recommend it. With gentoo, just put nptl in your use flags and emerge the latest stable glibc. It makes mozilla/gnome/kde much smoother.

Emergence will not work on powerpc.

EDLUG(Social) will be having a meeting Thursday at the Hollyrood Tavern, Starting at 7:30pm. Please remember that the room at the back is a no smoking area and if you would like to smoke please move to the end of the bar near the door.

As you have already seen there will be some info given out by Faye and Anand about their EDLUG projects.
I will be bringing along a D-link DSL-604+ Wireless router for people to play with although I will not be doing a talk on it. The router also has 4 wired ports, so if a few people bring along some laptops and cables we could probably quickly set up a game of BZflag. I don't own a laptop, so if anyone has one that they could bring along then it would save me bringing along a whole computer setup

There seemed to be quite a lot of discussion about Mac's this month If anyone would like to bring them along to then I'm sure that would be of interest to a lot of people too.

I will also be holding a meeting of EDLUG(Advocates). I would like to work out the formal constitution. I will also be discussing the grant application( I will bring the form) to Edinburgh Council which could enable EDLUG(Advocates) to get a grant of up to £5000 for a community project such as buying CD duplicators for Schools. However to get this grant we will need a constitution. I origionally said this would be at 7:30 but I will change it to 9:00pm when more people are around.

Cheers

Bob
