Piece of mind Somewhere local on the bus route I can complaint to Linux freidnly Static IP OK with me running my own services
I've found Lumison competent and friendly when I've had to deal with them. They are, however, fantastically expensive.
I would look at Be/O2. Both offer unlimited ADSL 2+ at up to 20 or 24 Mbps. The O2 call centre is in Glasgow and again are competent and friendly.
Avoid Demon, Tiscali, AOL and most of the other big names. Their Indian call centre staff just follow a script and are never any help. Ever. (Demon hosting are UK based and are competent and friendly, FWIW).
Why do you care if the ISP are Linux friendly? What difference does it make to them? They will only support you as far as the router and anybody with a web browser can sort things out.
Every ISP I can think of use Linux themselves, apart from Virgin who seem to use Windows for email etc.

I've used EdNet, now Lumison almost from the start of Adsl, and agree with Faye's comments. They are however quite expensive for 2Mbits, so I'm looking to change.

I've always found that EdNET, now Lumison, provides a great, linux freindly service.
I've been with them for many years, way back to the 56bit modem days and I've never had a reason for complaint.

While "improving" my broadband connection my ISP made a mistake and I have been getting a "PPP SERVER DOWN" messsage for far too long.
Can anyone suggest a (local?) linux friendly ISP who would be able to fix this and take over the connection.
Robert.
