Re: [edlug] wireless cards
I bought a bundled SMC PCMCIA card and EZConnect Access Point from PC
World at Kinnaird Park a few months ago (for about £100). RH 8.0 sees
the card during boot up and gives a message to the effect that the card
does not use the Prism 2 chipset but that it will do its best. Then it
all works fine - much simpler than setting up the same card in Win 98.
The only potential problem is that the web interface to the AP only
works properly from Internet Explorer, but that is only an issue if you
want to assign it a static IP address. Once set up you shouldn't need to
touch it again.
