Claudio Calvelli will be giving a talk on drbd at the next
Edinburgh Linux User Group Meeting on Thursday 3rd March.
"A short introduction to drbd"
drbd (distributed Replicated Block Device) can be described as a
"network RAID" and allows data to be automatically distributed
across servers in such a way that if one fails the data can be
recovered from the other. I will give a short and not-really-technical
introduction with a demonstration of what it can do using two
laptops (or more, if I can borrow a few laptops). If time allows
and there is interest I may also show what can go wrong (by prodding
my little network until I break something) and how one can recover
from such problems.
The meeting is held at the Edinburgh Conference and Training Centre, St
Mary's Street Edinburgh (map at http://tinyurl.com/5r6ebgp ) and starts
at 7:30pm. Tea, Coffee and biscuits are available free of charge.
After the talk there will be an opportunity for discussion on the future of Edlug Meetings
Apologies for the short notice.
regards
Jan
