[edlug] Wierd SuSE/Hotmail Problem

Folks

I have 2 machines (1 intel laptop, 1 AMD desktop).

Both have a standard SuSE 9.0 install on them.

On one (this laptop) I can use Hotmail.

On the other I can't...

Hotmail takes you on a magic carpet ride of redirects, picking and dropping off cookies all along the way. I have checked that the cookie handling is the same, cleared out all the old cookies, set up Konqueror to accept Microsoft's cookie's, everything...

The (other) machine hangs on a particular URL. I can telnet into that URL on port 80, it resolves fine, so it is not a comms problem, merely that that machine won't bounce out of the redirect (or something)...

I have had Hotmail problems with earlier SuSE installs before using the firewall, and I have tried to switch the firewall off (without much sucess) - there is still an OpenBSD box between the internal network and the machine though.

Any suggestions as to how to crack this wierd nut... (and I don't mean dropping Hotmail, smart alec!)

Gordon
