[edlug] Sluggish machine

Hi,

Hoping for some help/pointing in right direction.

I have a fairly Decent PC  AMD1.9Ghz  1GB ram Running mandrake 10.  My
problem is, my machine seems to think it is a 286, doing anything takes an
age.

Clicking on konqueror icon, takes 1.5 mins for konqueror to start, try to
fire up a terminal, takes about 45 seconds, HDD is constantly active,
machine seems to be doing something heavy all the time, I just don't know
what or where to start to find out what the heck it is.
Last night, just for the hell of it I fired up(or rather tried to) a game.
Q3  clicked Icon, went away, watched 1st 45mins of the Dundee derby, went
back to PC, game still not started.

PC has been working fine & running great. The only change has been  swapping
out a graphics card, nvidia 4200  for nvidia fx 5600. & driver installation
is same.

any suggestions?
