no, it's totally dead. the whistling actually occurs in standby modus (i've got
the system usually totally switched off). when i switch it off again, the
frequency of the whistle becomes lower, like something is being discharged. i
do strongly suspect now (after some googling) that it could be the capacitors
(hopefully in the psu) which would also explain the dischraging noise when
switching off again. still i would like some confirmation. at the end of the
day i still have warranty on it, it's just a faff having to send it back to the
supplier especially when you don't quite know what the prob is.
